MIKE & DONNY’S TROUT & REDFISH TRIP

AUGUST 15th & 16th, 2011
I fished 2 days with Mike from Mississippi and Donny from Alabama.
On Monday we started the morning with a boat limit of 15 Redfish by 8:00 am and caught and released another 10 Redfish before deciding to go looking for Speckled Trout. We made our way out to Barataria Bay to fish oyster reefs in the Port Sulphur area. We found one reef with a nice school of Speckled Trout, where we caught our boat limit of 75.
On Tuesday, day 2, we headed straight out to the oyster reefs and caught our boat limit of 75 Speckled Trout and then went off into the marsh to look for Redfish. We ended the day with 8 Redfish and 1 Black Drum.

FLY FISHING TRIP WITH BOB & TOBY

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17th, 2011
Today I had a trip with Bob and Toby who wanted to try their luck with fly fishing on Redfish and Speckled Trout.
We went to Barataria Bay and found a school of trout, where Bob and Toby caught a trout on just about every cast with their fly rods, for 2 hours!
After spending some time playing catch and release with the fly rods, we decided to try our luck with Redfish with the fly rod. We found a school of Bull Reds on the surface, where Bob and Toby hooked each a 37″ to 38″ Redfish in the 30 lb class. After about a 25 minute fight on 16 lb test line, we managed to land the Redfish and take pics and released them safely to fight another day.
Chad also caught a few Speckled Trout for his first time fly fishing.
I want to thank Bob and Toby for a great day on the water.

Today I fished with Ken, Jeff and Ron.
The weather conditions were favorable with light winds and no thunderstorms threatening to sprout up.
We had a successful morning run by limiting out on Reds by 10:00 am!

BRAD METZLER’S TRIP

SUNDAY, JULY 17th, 2011
Today I fished with Brad Metzler from Texas.
Early morning thunderstorms keep us running and as the wind picked up, we headed in the marshes.
Brad caught his very 1st Redfish, weighing in at 25lb! We headed back to the dock with 25 Trout and our limit of Redfish and catching a releasing a couple of over-sized Reds.
I want to thank Brad for coming down to fish with us.
I look forward to fishing with you again.
EDG COMPANY RODEO

SATURDAY, JULY 16, 2011
EDG held their company rodeo today, putting 4 boats in the water.
Captains Alden, Mike, Chet and myself fished today.
The day proved to be a success, with Capt. Alden landing 18 Reds and 12 Trout, Capt. Mike heading back with 10 Reds and 2 Trout, Capt. Chet with his group’s catch of 25 Reds and myself landing 17 Reds, 3 Trout and a Bass.
We had a great time with all of you guys and look forward to doing it again next year!
DANIEL NULL’S TRIP

THURSAY, JULY 14th, 2011
Today I fished with Daniel Null, his wife Meredith and Ryan and Tabatha from Maryland.
We launched out of Lafitte Harbor Marina by 6:30 and the thunderstorms started threating within a couple of hours. By 10:30 we were chased back to the dock with 12 Reds, 2 Black Drum, 4 Bass and a Flounder.
We managed to pull off a good and ejoyable day considering the weather conditions.
I want to thank Daniel and Meredith for coming down and fishing with us. I look forward to fishing with you again the future.
JIMMY & LOUANN’S TRIP

FRIDAY, JULY 9, 2011
Today I fished with Louann & Jimmy Guzman, nephew Grant and brother in law David from Mississippi.
We worked around thunderdtorms throughout the day, but managed a good day.
We headed back to the dock with 12 Redfish, 2 Trout, 3 Black Drum and a flounder.
I want to thank Louann & Jimmy for booking their trip with us and we look forward to seeing you guys again.
