FLY FISHING TRIP WITH BOB & TOBY

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17th, 2011

Today I had a trip with Bob and Toby who wanted to try their luck with fly fishing on Redfish and Speckled Trout.

We went to Barataria Bay and found a school of trout, where Bob and Toby caught a trout on just about every cast with their fly rods, for 2 hours!

After spending some time playing catch and release with the fly rods, we decided to try our luck with Redfish with the fly rod.   We  found a school of Bull Reds on the surface, where Bob and Toby hooked each a 37″ to 38″ Redfish in the 30 lb class.  After about a 25 minute fight on 16 lb test line, we managed to land the Redfish and take pics and released them safely to fight another day.

Chad also caught a few Speckled Trout for his first time fly fishing.

I want to thank Bob and Toby for a great day on the water.

Friday, 3rd of July & Saturday, July 4th

Capt. Todd and I had the opportunity to fish the 4th of July holiday with Nathan Sprouse and his great group of family and friends from Mississippi. The busy day on the water did not hinder our catching of 20 beautiful Redfish by Capt. Todd and his crew and 25 nice Redfish, 55 trout and a Drum and Flounder by Capt. Scott and his crew in the Little Lake, Turtle Bay and Barataria Bay area.

On Saturday, July 4th we headed out to Little Lake/Turtle Bay with anticipation of a repeat. By noon our friends from Mississippi totaled 45 beautiful Redfish. What a way to celebrate our Independence! I want to thank you all for a fun filled and exciting two days and we hope to fish with you guys in the future. We had a great time!

Ray and Mason Champagne’s Trip

June 16, 2009 by scott

Tuesday June 16th
Today I had the pleasure of fishing with and old friend and client Ray Champagne and his son Mason who is 11 years old. Ray asked if I knew a place that we could go and catch some Redfish, so that Mason could experience the fight and pull on the line of a Redfish. We left the dock from Lafitte Harbor Marina at 6:30am and headed out for a place I have been catching Redfish in the Little Lake area just about everyday. We pulled up and threw the cajun anchor pole down, and baited our lines with market shrimp on a jighead with a cork. This is an easy way to catch Redfish when you have kids. At first all we caught were undersize reds, and after about 4 or 5 cast the frenzy was on. We caught a Redfish almost every cast for about an hour, Ray and I really enjoyed watching his son reel in a Redfish one after another. Mason told us he had to take a break and sit and have a drink, because he was too tired to reel in another fish. I hope todays trip catching Redfish made a angler out of Mason, and he will want to come back and catch Redfish again soon, and I look forward to fishing with him and his dad in the future.
I want to thank Ray and Mason for letting me be part of their father and son day. This is a day I will not forget, and I hope Mason will remember this Redfishing trip for a LIFETIME! As always this is New Orleans Fishing at its Best!

Another Great Redfish Day in Lafitte.

June 9, 2009 by scott

Monday June 8th I had a trip with a Matt, Mike and Brandon from northshore. We went out looking for Redfish, after the guys asked me if I thought we could catch a few reds. I have been doing great catching Redfish the last few weeks, and today was no exception. We caught 60 Redfish for the day, keeping our daily limit and releasing the rest to fight another day.
All most all of the reds we caught were on gold spoons, with only a few that were caught on black/chartruese tail Bayou Chub Minnows with a spinner.
Thank you guys for a great trip, I look forward to fishing with you in the future.

Tony, Bill and Liams Trip

June 4, 2009 by scott

On Sat May 30th I had a trip with My friends and clients Tony Lytle, Bill and Liam Janowsky from MS. we headed out to Barataria Bay looking to catch a few nice Speckled Trout, with the wind blowing northeast at about 15 knots, we were not able to find clean water on the north end of the bay, so I headed out for the beach near Coupe Belle Pass in search of clean water and some hungry trout.
It was a bumpy ride crossing Barataria Bay to the southern end, but when we arrived at the beach it was fairly calm and the water was pretty and green. All the ingredients were there to catch a nice mess of trout, clean water and bait everywhere, except the tide was coming to and end. But we did catch 38 nice Speckled Trout and throwing back atleast 40 to 50 others that would not make the legal size, fishing under the birds in the Gulf of Mexico. We were casting glow bettles tightline before the tide quite completely and they stopped biting all together. So I headed into the marshes near Port Sulfur to catch some Redfish, and we ended the day catching 15 Redfish on black and chartruese Bayou Chubs Minnows with a 1/4 oz jighead. All in all we had a great time and caught some good fish. New Orleans Fishing at its best!

Lauren Chew trip

On May 25th through the 28th I had the pleasure of fishing with Lauren Chew from CA.
Lauren asked me if I could bring him to catch Redfish, he wanted to try his hand on catching a Louisiana Redfish, And as a avid angler Catching Redfish is what he did. Lauren and I caught 195 Redfish in four days of fishing, we caught and released all but 15 Redfish for the four days.
On monday we caught 21 Redfish with the wind and rainy weather, but we did not let the weather scare us into the dock. Most of the Redfish were caught on 3″ black and chartreuse Bayou Chub minnows with a gold spinner and a 1/4oz jighead.
On tuesday we caught only 16 Redfish for the day, as the day was not that great do to the water being dirty and windy conditions.
But on wensday we had my personal best trip ever, 120 Refish caught and released for the day, all were caught on Johnson Gold spoons, with 80 caught in one spot on anchor over a shell reef that I like to fish often.
Thursday we caught 35 Redfish, with 15 of them caught on the same reef we caught the 80 redfish the day before. All were caught on Johnson Gold spoons and were released to fight another day. This was New Orleans fishing at its best!
I want to thank you Lauren for booking your trip with myself Capt. Scott Poche` and look forward to fishing with you in the future.
