Friday Aug. 14th

I fished with two guys Sid and Ramone from the New Orleans area. We left the dock at Lafitte Harbor Marina around 6:00am and headed south to Barataria Bay to try to catch Speckled Trout. The southeast wind was blowing at 10 to 12 mph and they had a pretty good chop on the water, so I decided to try the Port Sulfur area to start. We stopped at an island I like to fish on the east side of Barataria Bay, that has just about disappeared from the storms over the last few years. We caught 10 or so trout and moved on to try a few other spots near that area. We had 15 or so trout in the box, when the wind started to lay down and the water was getting pretty smooth. We went south to Coupe Belle Pass and found the Seagulls working on the shrimp popping out the water. This means there are Speckled Trout chasing the shrimp to the surface and the trout are hngry. We caught 52 keeper trout before the rain ran us out the bay. The guys asked about trying to catch some Redfish in the marsh before going back to the dock. I have been doing good catching Redfish in the Little Lake/ Turtle Bay area for the last few months. So we went to the south end of Little Lake and worked the banks picking up 5 nice Redfish and hooked 2 that broke our lines fishing with the Gulp Shrimp on a 1/4oz jighead. We were not fishing long before the rain caught up to us, and sent us back to the dock for the day. All in all we had a great day, and as always this was New Orleans Fishing At Its Finest!

I want to thank Sid and Ramone for a great day and look forward to fishing with the again in the future.
