Tuesday 28th of July
today I fished with Jewell Harris of Chicago, We left the dock at Lafitte Harbor Marina at about 6:30am and headed out for Barataria Bay in search of a few hungry Speckled Trout, Jewell has caught trout before but it has been about 20 years or since. So I was going to refresh his memory of what it is like to catch the again. On our first stop at Manilla Village, Jewell caught a few nice trout and we had a few Lady fish hit our baits as well, but not many trout. So I decided to try the Saturday Island Platform and it was not much better, a lot of lady fish biting and not many Specks. With the Southwest wind picking up from a few early morning thunderstorms, I decided to try the west side of the bay by a little island right behind Grand Isle, and this was the honey hole we were looking for, we caught our limit of 50 Speckled Trout and threw back atleast 50 that were too small. We were getting a bite almost every cast for awhile, untill the porpoises came in and ran the fish off. But we moved a few feet and started catching again. After catching out limit of trout, Jewell asked about catching a few Redfish. Well cathing is what we did, We boated 7 nice Redfish and lost a few at the boat before calling it a day and heading to the dock to clean a full box of fish. And as always this was New Orleans Fishing At Its Finest!
Thank you Jewell for booking your trip with us here at Crescent City Fishing Charters Inc. It was a great day on the water with you, And I look forward to doing it again in the future.

Capt. Todd D had the pleasure of fishing with an ole friend Mike McGlone and his friends, they left the dock from Lafitte Harbor Marina and headed out for Barataria Bay area in search of some hungry Speckled Trout, but with the southwest wind blowing and a very small tide, they managed to put 30 decent keeper trout in the box, they caught many throwbacks chasing the birds around the west side of the bay. After trying for trout they decided to run into the duck ponds and try their luck on catching Redfish. They ended the day catching 9 or 10 nice Redfish to go in the fish box with their trout. All in all they had a good day.
It was good to see ya Mike, I hope we get to see you again soon, its been awhile. I know you been busy, but we hope to get a chance to fish with you again soon.

Sunday July 12th
Today I fished with an ole friend and client Joey and his two friends Jarred and Dale. For some time now Joey and I have been working on booking a trip to where he could get his little friend Jarred who is 12 years old and his good friend Dale out on the water for some Speckled Trout and Redfish action, well today was the day!
We left the dock at Lafitte Harbor Marina around 6:00am and headed out for Barataria Bay area, the wheather looked pretty good for a good trout day, with the winds light out of the northeast and the water fairly calm. When we arrived at our first spot in the bay, we were the only boat in sight of the island we tried to fish the day before. I put the trolling motor over and we started casting H&H glow beetles over a shell reef that extends south of the island for a 100 yards or so. We started catching almost right away, so I put my Cajun anchor down and we caught 55 to 60 nice Speckled Trout until the tide slacked on us and the bite slowed to nothing. We only a very small tide range and it did not last but an hour or so and when the tide slacks, so will the bite on trout. I decided to move north to another island and try what we did the day before, I put a popping cork on and sure enough the bite was on like the day before. We caught many throw back trout under 12 inches, but did manage to catch a few nice keepers to add to the fish box. When the tide caught up to us and slacked, we took off into the shallow marsh to look for Redfish. Jarred said he wanted to catch a big Redfish, so I put the trolling motor over and we went back into a small shallow pocket where I have been seeing some Redfish tailing from time to time, and they were there. After a few cast Jarred had his hands full with a very nice Redfish pulling his line. We boated 10 really nice Redfish for a grand total of 72 Speckled Trout and 10 Redfish. This is New Orleans Fishing At Its Best!
I want to thank Joey, Jarred and Dale for booking their trip with us at Crescent City Fishing Charters Inc. and myself Capt. Scott Poche` and I look forward to fishing with you again in the future.

Saturday July 11th
I fished today with Moon and Steve Griffon, and Odon Simoneaux. The guys said they wanted to catch some Speckled Trout and maybe a few Redfish later in the day. We left Lafitte Harbor Marina at 6:30am and headed out to Barataria Bay area. When we reached the bay after a short 25 minute run, the winds were calm and the water was pretty and clear, I had a good feeling we would do well with the trout. On our first stop near Queen Bess Island , I put the trolling motor in and we started casting around the island with a H&H glow beetle and a 1/4oz jig head fishing tight line and the bite was on, we started catching Speckled Trout on a sunken reef just off the south end of the island, so I put my Cajun anchor down and we sat in that spot and caught 30 nice trout, until another boat came by and idled over the reef we were fishing and ran the fish off. I pulled up the anchor and trolled around till we started catching again, I poled down and we sat and caught 10 or so nice trout before the tide stopped on us. We made a move to another island near by and the bite was slow. I put a popping cork on and we started catching trout again, we picked up 20 nice trout in this spot before the bite quite. I moved around and tried a few other stops in the bay, but did not catch many more keepers before a thunderstorm ran us out the bay. We caught 61 nice Speckled Trout and ran to Little Lake area to find a few Redfish. But the tide had stopped on us and the wind picked up from the thunderstorms around and the bite was off. We managed to catch a nice keeper Redfish and a few undersize reds, before we ran in from the rain. We had a great day and I enjoyed fishing with Moon, Steve and Odon, and as always this was New Orleans Fishing At Its Best!
I want to thank Moon, Steve and Odon for booking with us at Cescent City Fishing Charters Inc. and I look forward to fishing with you guys in the future. I had a lot of fun fishing with a great group of guys and hope to see you again soon.
